'Destined for Blues.'

If the recipient wishes to fully understand the movie, which he or she watched, especially if it is a valuable piece, they should make a study. Each recipient is interested in art of film in contact with the film undergoes three stages: getting to know the work, interpret it and evaluate it critically. After the lecture of developing the ideas and structure in moving image I decided to actually have a deeper analysis about this film. However I found it quite difficult to analyse it, but more of less I think of it as it has a three act structure.

'Destined for blues' is a story about the idol and the indomitable artist, vocalist of polish band 'Dzem' - Ryszard Riedel. But the first scene of the film, which really shows its end  image,a failure and collapse rather than image of an idol who is still remembered as one of the best polish musicians. And the important question, which is actually showed through out the whole movie;

"What would you do if you had one more life?"

First act of this film is establishing of the protagonist. His relations, background and establishing his relation with the world he lives in. As the film begins it bring us back to 1976 in Tychy, in one of the Silesian estates. 20-year-old Protagonist, though intelligent and smart, not working,and his education ended at primary school barely graduated, he lives from day to day on the parents' pot, in constant conflict with his father. Fascinated by western music and culture of the hippies, full of dreams of Indian life on the prairies.

Protagonist meets a girl, and a passionate feeling is born between two of them. As a schoolgirl our Protagonist's love gets pregnant and is kicked out of school, and  soon marries our character. On the wedding day, the best friend of our Protagonist gives him for the first time a syringe shot. This is the turning point as the narcotic departure will now be constantly tempted Protagonist and this ensures that his life will never be the same again.


Second Act is actually a turning point in Protagonist's career. It is 1990s and 'Dzem' became one of the most famous bands in the whole country, giving many concerts, and has thousands of fans. From one point of view it seems that he managed to accomplish something, but actually he lives in state of crisis, and all the drama takes place at the backstage. Protagonist in the eyes of polish culture was our Silesian Jim Morrison. He composed music, wrote lyrics, and took drugs. However, as his fans could not live without his signing, so he could not live without drugs anymore. So Protagonist begun to live only in his world of narcotic vision.

In third act we see admired idol, who actually slips lower and lower begging for drugs. Concern for the house, and supporting family falls on Protagonist's wife, who always takes her husband's side although she is more and more tired and desperate. But neither she or his band are no longer able to prevent the tragedy. Although I believe this act left protagonist and other character with clear sense of who they really are and what is they position. Although it is way to late of resolving all the problems.
