Development of Creative Thought and Structure/ Getting Rid of Assumptions.

Artists should approach every problem with an open mind, and look at the issue from different angles, and different point of view, as we will never know from which direction the inspiration is coming. However, as the human being we all make assumptions and stereotypes, and this is due the way we were raised, our personal experiences, education and habits. But whenever they are positive or negative they can leas to false expectations and also the false interpretations.

For artists it is important not to get into habits, and stereotypical thinking and simply free themselves. Use metaphors, similes, analogies to provide more creative attempt to get new ideas for the solution of the problem. Depending of what kind of the problem we are facing, we should consider the target audience and the context, and from this point we should look at the solutions which would reach our audience, and get their attention. 

One of the good examples of artist who is getting rid of assumptions is Juliana Cerqueira Leite. I discover her work on one of the exhibitions presented in Saatchi's Gallery in London. Her work is driven by an investigation into physicality and how we interact with the physical world. During the exhibition I came across three of her major pieces based on the idea of space and time. For two of them she used a large box, slightly larger than herself and filled it with clay, and on the way to create her sculpture she had to dig into the clay, where she used different techniques to allow the process to show something about her body, form and space.

I was really interested in piece called 'Oh', and where she explained the purpose of this work she highlighted that she likes 'thinking about physics, as what would our bodies look like if time didn't separate our actions'. I can easily say that her way of thinking inspires, and her point of view affected my way of looking at the objects and surrounding world.When she started to work on this piece, she stood in front of the wall with the pencil and traced area around herself, as far as she could reach it without moving her feet. And he whole sculpture is made out of latex and reminds me of 'balloon' although it is not filled with air as it it too heavy to hold it. However Leite was satisfied with thi outcome, as she sees 'it as a volume defined by the potential of touch'
